Content Marketing is now established as a key success factor for many professionals such as lawyers, doctors and various consultants. If you’re a busy successful coach working in organizations, you probably value your word-of-mouth referrals.
But pay attention to your online content marketing because anytime you get a referral, you can bet someone’s going to search for you on the Web.
What will your prospective clients find when they do? A website your nephew put up, with articles you wrote a few years back?
Successful coaches are now mastering technology to send out compelling e-newsletters, publish frequent blog posts, update social media sites and publish Amazon ebooks. Are you keeping up? Even if you’re a solo professional, you need to publish quality content.
The good news is you don’t have to do it all yourself. More so every day, every week, there are new online services that can help – not only with the technology – but with the actual writing.
If you’ve arrived on this site, you may have found it through a Google search, various articles, blog posts, and social media links. Or maybe even a YouTube video. To me, all that matters is that you did find me and my services. And to make that possible, I do a lot of content creation.
You should too. But I don’t believe that successful professionals should or could have the time and skills to do it all themselves. I’m a firm believer in outsourcing, and I even outsource much of my own marketing content.
Who has time for all these content marketing channels?
- Researching, reading, writing, formatting and broadcasting a well-designed e-newsletter?
- Publishing compelling blog posts twice a week?
- Updating social media sites (LinkedIn, Facebook, Google+, Twitter) with regular fresh content?

There’s no doubt that the costs of NOT blogging (lack of search engine indexing, hard to get found on Web, weak Internet presence) outweigh any excuse you can come up with. Even if you’re busier than most, if you’re in a service business that depends on creating strong credibility and trust, you’ve got to consistently publish on a blog and update your social media sites to let readers know you’ve published.
The most frequent problem for busy coaches and consultants, however, is “I either don’t know what to write, or I have too much to write about. I couldn’t begin to write a 350-word post!”
Our friends over at Hubspot have solved that problem now, with a blog post template. That’s right, it’s a “fill-in-the-blanks” type format anyone can use., like those old paint-by-numbers kits!
Seriously, I haven’t used it yet, but I think I’ll give it a shot. If nothing else, it will inspire my own version of such a format. What’s to lose? If you’re stuck stuck and struggle with publishing on your blog 2-3 times a week, start using this template and see if it doesn’t ‘unstick’ you.

It will kick start your creativity, for sure. Then, you can always create your own template to use whenever you don’t have a burning topic to write about.
